A Splash of Color

Lakelife recently paid a visit to Deer Run Florist in Eatonton to speak with Lead Florist Mary Vandiver about how to make a beautiful summer flower arrangement at home.

Flowers:

  • Hydrangea

  • Stock

  • Flowering Kale

  • Veronica

  • Spray roses

  • Zinnia

  • Eucalyptus

  • Honey Bracelet

  • Wild Rosemary

Tools:

  • Floralife Crystal Clear solution

  • cloths

  • snips

  • scissors

  • clear tape

  • vase

Tips from Mary:

Use the clear tape to make a grid across the top of the vase. Once the grid is made, use more tape around the edge of the rim to hold the edges of the grid in place. This will prevent the grid from falling when you start arranging the flowers.

The grid allows the flowers to stay separated and not bunch together in one spot.

Next, spray some crystal clear water solution in the vase. Then pour water in the vase until about 75% full.

Cut the stem of the flowers at an angle. This allows them to absorb more water.

When arranging your flowers, start with the biggest first and use odd numbers of each flower. In this arrangement, the hydrangeas are placed first and cut short. The the rest are added in. The greens are added last as filler for the arrangement.

Thank you to Crystal Photography for providing the studio for this photoshoot.
